Known as the “City of Salt” (it was once famous for its salt manufacturing), Porto Vecchio is a must-visit destination for any type of stay. With its vestiges of the past, breath-taking landscapes, and stunning beaches, this corner of Southern Corsica is a little diamond shining in the Gulf of Porto Vecchio.
Easy to reach by land (there are several roads), sea (one of the best mooring locations on the eastern coast of Corsica), or plane (with Figari airport nearby), the town is located deep in a shimmering bay between Bonifacio, the southern-most point of Corsica, and the Côte des Nacres, a small region on the eastern coast of the island.
The hotel, 1.5 km from the centre of Porto Vecchio, gives you easy access to this many-faceted seaside resort. Once you reach Place de la République, in the centre of the old town, set off to discover the citadel with its ramparts, five bastions, Genoise tiled gate, paved streets, and shaded squares.
Below the ramparts, the marina is particularly busy in summer, as is the entire town, both by day and by night. The town centre is also known for its boutique shops which stay open until midnight in the high season. If you’re feeling lively, have a drink, and then head to one of the clubs which host some of the world’s biggest DJs.
Sheltered from all this bustle, Hotel & Spa Don César is the ideal place to retire to after adventures in Porto Vecchio.
